Wicked debuted at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews, with John Cooper calling it an “exhilarating hybrid that continuously surprises and amuses” in the festival’s program. The thriller is a twisted tale of murder and incest with noir sensibilities and biting dark wit. The driving force behind the film is its stellar cast, […]

Welcome back beyond the Looking Glass, where the many mad reflections of Wonderland and its denizens can appear anywhere and in any shape! You will be delighted to see many familiar faces appear in various trading and competitive card games that are quite popular on Earth. Some of these “visions” of Wonderland build off the […]

Casting. One of the most important, frustrating, and frightening parts of the filmmaking process. If you’re an actor, it’s a constant state of vulnerability, being compared and contrasted to scores of other candidates, each being nitpicked on their appearance, experience, and performance. On the production side, you sift through an endless slog of headshots and […]

Where In Wonderland? Key Locations of The Looking Glass Wars

Author Frank Beddor
The Wonderland of The Looking Glass Wars is full of places that perhaps you know from Lewis Carroll’s (sanitized) Alice In Wonderland. However, the truth behind the fiction is far more epic, beautiful, and at times dangerous. Here are but a few of the highlights a Wonderverse traveler would see upon stepping through the looking glass...

Who The Queen of Hearts is Based On: Queen Victoria

Author Frank Beddor
Victoria believed that offspring of British monarchs should wed royals or nobles of other nations as a means of forming political and military alliances. How galling then, that Leopold set his heart on a former foundling named Alice Liddell, a member of the gentry, modestly famous for being Lewis Carroll’s muse. What was worse: Miss Liddell had progressive ideas on social and economic reform, and she didn’t care to abide a woman’s place in society. Victoria would have to be subtle, nuanced in her sabotaging of Leopold and Alice’s relationship...

Through The Looking Glass of Wonderland Video Games

Author Bibwit Harte
As the Royal Scholar of Wonderland, I, Bibwit Harte am tasked with peering through the Pool of Tears to see the myriad of creations inspired by Wonderland. Today I am investigating a most curious form of entertainment… the “video game.”

All Roads Lead to Alice

Author Frank Beddor
My friend and Wonderverse collaborator Chad Evett (the Top Hat of Hatters) has returned (alive!) from the land of Con and Cosplay after SDCC 2022. I asked him to pen a quick reflection of why and how Alice so invariably makes her appearance in his kingdom of costumes. True to form, his take is thoughtful and fun. Check it out!

The Mad Hatter’s Missing Brother: Dalton Madigan

Author Frank Beddor
It wasn’t instantaneous but a gradual wearing down of his resolve. Dalton Madigan came to feel that he didn’t have much choice; he surrendered to Rose and let himself be seduced. Having an affair with the princess, the daughter of the queen he’d sworn to protect.

Chad Evett, Mad Hatter Cosplay Master at SDCC 2022

Author Frank Beddor
To all my Wonderland fans enjoying a trip down the rabbit hole of San Diego Comic-Con, be sure to keep an eye out for the cosplay king and Master Hatter (not to mention my friend and Wonderverse collaborator) Chad Evett. Take a look at this conversation I had with Chad about his amazing cosplay craft.

Following Hollywood’s White Rabbit Into Wonderland: Curtis Clark

Author Frank Beddor
Curtis Clark, one of my Wonderverse collaborators that helped write the Hatter Madigan graphic novels, reflected on the early days of his career in this thoughtful blog. His charming origin story shed light on the fact that unbeknownst to me, I played a bigger role in his journey than I ever knew. We both agreed […]

The Cheshire Cat Will Take Alice’s Head

Author Frank Beddor
The Cat (or the Cheshire Cat as some may wrongly know him), a shape-shifting creature born of Redd Heart’s imagination—part human, part feline, all assassin—assumed his most innocent incarnation: that of a cute kitten with golden fur. He was lucky to come across seven-year-old Princess Alyss Heart (Alice in Wonderland) just outside the palace gates […]

The Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland, is Redd Hot!

Author Frank Beddor
By the force of her vindictive will, as much as the training these soldiers had endured for ten hours of every lunar cycle, Redd’s army was at last ready. She had picked this day to attack— the seventh birthday of her niece, Princess Alyss Heart—for symbolic reasons. Wonderland would be celebrating its future queen. What better time to take revenge on Genevieve and wrench back her rightful crown?

TOP FRANCHISES FROM IP: MORE THAN JUST A MOVIE

Author Frank Beddor
What is the secret to growing a franchise from niche beginnings to global goliath status? I asked my good friend (and marketing mastermind) Vincent Bruzzese this question—and found myself tumbling down the rabbit hole as he shared his findings on the makings of the biggest IPs dominating the entertainment landscape.

Lewis Carroll, the Writer that got Alice In Wonderland Wrong

Author Frank Beddor
By all accounts, Reverend Dodgson was an austere, fastidious man, a puttering, fussy bachelor inclined toward conservatism in politics, religion, and social mores. Such a man would seem an unlikely candidate to author Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland, whose enchanting nonsense has held the world under its whimsical sway for over 150 years and counting. But the history of imagination is filled with surprising paradoxes, and Charles Lutwidge Dodgson was the greatest paradox of all.

Introducing Hatter Madigan, AKA the Mad Hatter

Author Frank Beddor
This is NOT the story of the Mad Hatter. Hatter Madigan, is an expert bladesman, a High Cut of Wonderlands Millinery, not the tea guzzling madman of children's lit. The only visual connection to the (Mad) Hatter in Lewis Carroll's books or the Disney film Alice in Wonderland is the iconic hat. Discover the truth.

Who is Alyss? Shatter the Myth, Discover the Real Alice In Wonderland

Author Frank Beddor
Meet Alyss Heart of Wonderland: a princess brought up with all the entitlement due an heir to the throne. On her seventh birthday, she was targeted in a bloody coup perpetrated by her aunt Redd, in which her father and mother, the king and queen, were killed. The royal bodyguard Hatter Madigan whisked her to relative safety through The Pool of Tears, a portal to other worlds...

Dear Inquiring Minds...

Author Frank Beddor
What if I told you that a titan of IP slumbers largely untapped? That while only a fraction of its potential has been realized, it’s already a worldwide cultural phenomenon? What if I told you that I was talking about Lewis Carroll’s ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND?
