The Myth: A young girl named Alice tumbled down a rabbit hole and enjoyed a delightful adventure in the made-up world of Wonderland.

The Truth: Wonderland is real. Alyss Heart is the heir to the throne, until her murderous aunt Redd steals the crown and kills Alyss’ parents. To escape Redd, Alyss and her bodyguard, Hatter Madigan, must flee to our world through the Pool of Tears. But in the pool Alyss and Hatter are separated. Lost and alone in Victorian London, Alyss is befriended by an aspiring author to whom she tells the violent, heartbreaking story of her young life. Yet he gets the story all wrong. Hatter Madigan knows the truth only too well, and he is searching every corner of our world to find the lost princess and return her to Wonderland so she may battle Redd for her rightful place as the Queen of Hearts.

So glad I took a chance and bought the whole trilogy at once… I saw the books, thumbed through the first couple pages, and knew I had to have them.

The Looking Glass Wars is a rollicking literary reinterpretation of the Alice in Wonderland universe sure to cast a spell on its targeting young adult audience as well as older readers. That undercurrent of danger as well as its strong characterization and thrilling plot all contribute to make this a pleasantly surprising and accomplished work.
Blogcritics
A Series with a dark twist on Alice in Wonderland. There are three amazing books and even 6 graphic novels! Not enough people know about this great series. I am recommending it to all of you. Frank Beddor is a genius.

An entertaining cross between Maguire's WICKED and Steven Spielberg's Peter Pan movie, Hook, THE LOOKING GLASS WARS launches a promised trilogy about Alyss's new adventures. Beddor grabs the imagination and refuses to let go until the reader is pulled as deeply into the adventure as Alyss herself. The worst part, of course, will be the wait for the next book.

I have loved Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland since before I could talk… I gotta say my favorite is Frank Beddor’s The Looking Glass Wars Series.
Backwardshearts
Beddor challenges the delicate relationship between truth and fiction, reality and fantasy. And he does so with an interesting take on what such question can ultimately do to the mind of those that fail to believe in and trust in themselves and what they know to be true.
