The deck cover, done as the cover of a magazine. A young man
photographed from above in a crowded Brooklyn street market
looks down at the pavement, his buzzcut dyed as a Puerto
Rican flag — red, white and blue with a single star
                    — over a white Tommy Boy tee and a lanyard. The title
N.Y. NATIVES runs across the top in fat yellow marker,
with ISSUE NO. 01 above it and BY JAVI CALDERON at the
right. Cover lines fill the left margin: “Based on
real-life shit from my twenties…” and
“Characters seen gettin’ cozy in Brooklyn.
Find out who!?!” A black marker slash across the
middle reads F/W SEASON ONE, and a barcode sits in the
                    bottom corner.

New York Natives

Based on the true story of the writer’s life, New York Natives follows a self-loathing college dropout and his circle of friends trying to hustle their way to the top of the self-absorbed New York fashion industry.

The series captures the zeitgeist of Bad Bunny and Puerto Rican pride, seamlessly blended with Gen Z hustle culture. It’s about people surviving the death of the American Dream as best they can, with humor and optimism.
